Cambridge University: Innovation and Enterprise Project Officer [Temporary Cover] (Secondment)

The Department of Plant Sciences is seeking an enthusiastic and pro-active person to fill the role of Innovation and Enterprise Project Officer. Applications from University staff wishing to undertake the role as a secondment are welcome.

The role provides leadership and co-ordination of CambPlants Hub activities ( The Hub is a ‘one-stop-shop’ for University-wide activities relevant to plant-related research, covering food, energy, materials, health and ecosystem services. CambPlants connects several existing initiatives and acts as a gateway for companies, policy makers and the public to access Cambridge expertise in plant science, instigating cross-disciplinary research collaborations, outreach, skills development and networking. CambPlants mission is to tackle global challenges by putting plant research into practice.

The role involves maintaining an overview of plant research and its potential for application, and communicating current research to potential stakeholders, including industry, government, NGOs and the public, to build links. The role-holder develops the communications strategy, facilitates fundraising, manages events, and contributes to impact case studies.

The successful candidate will be educated to PhD level in a discipline relevant to plant science research. Ideally, you will have established links with industry relevant to plants, and can demonstrate a track record of industry interaction and outreach. You will have experience with Technology Transfer, Bioenergy and Industrial Biotechnology. You will possess excellent oral and written communication skills, and be confident in communicating with academics, industry leaders and those in government roles.
