Designed to help farmers and scientists understand more about each other’s worlds, the Forum organises free to attend, informal events in the lab and the field aimed at helping bridge the gap between research and production. See our 1 minute video:
You can see our previous events blogs below – we’ve visited a range of organisations, from the Earlham Institute sequencing DNA, to a mushroom farm in Littleport.
Farmers welcome more opportunities to interact in a meaningful way with scientists, as well as having input into the research process and to understand what research is being undertaken. For their part, scientists are mandated to demonstrate the impact of their research and be better connected with the end-users. In many cases, a gulf exists between the research and producer communities, particularly in terms of vocabulary, culture and understanding each others’ drivers and challenges.
Through Agri-Tech East’s Young Innovators’ Forum, kindly sponsored by The Morley Agricultural Foundation (read more here), we aim to tackle this among the promising young leaders of the future from the research and grower communities in the east of England.
